1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR, 350 v8, 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, NICE WHITE INTERIOR, DECENT RED AND WHITE PAINT, NEW WHEELS AND TIRES.HEAD LIGHTS WORK! TAIL LIGHTS WORK!TURN SIGNALS WORK! BRAKE LIGHTS WORK!HOW IS THE BODY AS FAR AS RUST ISSUES?
On the underside the frame looks good, a couple of the flat bottoms of metal floor replaced, i see no holes on the underside. I see no rust bubbles around the wheels wells or rocker panels.
IS THIS A BEL AIR OR 210? I'm sure not an expert on this, the title says Bel Air and the VIN tag on the door post has a C in front of the rest of the VIN. No C on the title VIN, but its on the post.
HOW IS THE PAINT? I know it looks perfect in the pictures, here is what I see. Upper end driver quality, some orange peel and specs, no dents or big dings, shine is good. It looks like its never been rubbed and buffed, that would make it better. Its driver quality, looks good at a show, but not perfect, you can find flaws if you look for them.
HOW IS THE INTERIOR? I consider the interior nice! No bad wear, no holes or cracks. Its not brand new, but looks good. Its a upholstery shop job, not original. Head liner and carpet are good.
HOW IS THE ENGINE? Its a good running engine, I hear no knocks or rattles and see no blue smoke. It probably leaks drops like most old cars. It is suppose to be a 350 cubic inch, I have not run the numbers. It is clean on top and the bottom.
HOW IS THE TRANSMISSION? It not original, the original was a column shift. Its a 4 speed manual with a floor shift. I feel no clutch slip, it shift good after you learn the feel.
HOW IS THE GLASS? The glass isin good used condition, I see no cracks or stone chips.
HOW IS THE CHROME? Side stainless very nice, stainless around the window good with a couple of small dings. Hood nose chrome at the bottom of the hood is sweaty, bumper Ok, but have some pits and small dulling areas.
HOW IS ARE THE TIRES AND WHEELS? New, fronts are 18 inch with 245/45/18 tires, rears 20 inch with 275/40/20 tires. I have heard no rub on the front, I did hear a rub on the drivers rear when I turned in my drive way, I don't see a rub mark on the out side. Some guys say if they don't rub there too small. The are smooth and the rear has air shocks. Bid wide square corner tires make give the feel of following the road.
HOW DOES THE CAR STOP? Good for 4 wheel drum brakes with no power booster.
HOW DOES THE CAR DRIVE? It drive OK, the big tires and small steering wheel make you put more effort turning in a tight spot.
