Vehicle Description

Car Story: In 1960 my father-in-law bought the ’57 Corvette. It has a 3 speed manual transmission with a 283 V8, block number: 3789935 (1961 vintage). He converted it into a muscle car, the thing to do in the ‘60’s. It was his everyday driver to work for 20+ years. In 1993 Bob sold it to his son-in-law, who drove it from Sacramento to Albuquerque New Mexico where he continued to drive it. In 2010 New Mexico Fleet Design did a body off restoration taking the majority of it back to original. The dash board and instruments and wheels are not original. The engine temperature gauge is the only instrument working. It has a hard top that has not been on the corvette since it came to New Mexico which needs a windshield clamp and adjustments. It still get driven at least monthly. This frame-off-restored 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is powered by a later-model 283ci V8 engine backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Features include Cragar S/S wheels, a custom dashboard, and electric windshield wipers. Finished in red with white coves over a red vinyl interior, this three-owner C1 Corvette is available now and comes with a hardtop and a clear New Mexico title in the seller's name. During the body-off-frame restoration by New Mexico Fleet Design of Albuquerque, New Mexico, the exterior was finished in red with white coves. Features include chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, a rear antenna, and dual bumper-exit exhaust outlets. A set of 15-inch chrome Cragar S/S wheels is wrapped in Michelin 205/70/R15 radial tires. The bucket seats and door panels are upholstered in red vinyl. Features include manual steering and brakes, manual windows, a custom dashboard, and a floor-mounted shifter. The seller states the Wonderbar radio is inoperative. A custom-mounted 1963 Corvette gauge panel with a 150-mph speedometer, a 7K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage is located ahead of the driver. According to the seller, the odometer reads 200,000 miles, but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown. The seller states that the engine temperature gauge is the only one that functions. Power is provided by an early 1960s 283ci Corvette V8 (casting number 3789935) and backed by a three-speed manual transmission. Features include finned cast aluminum valve covers, an aluminum intake manifold, and a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner. This Corvette was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. Braking is provided by manual four-wheel drums. The seller will include a hardtop as part of the sale. They state that it needs a windshield clamp and adjustments.
