Vehicle Description

This 1965 Ford Mustangs convertible has a lot of true classic fans excited. It has a blue-on-blue style that shows a ton of originality. And the V8 under the hood has a stout feeling for a more recent rebuild. Plus, with desirable features like four-on-the-floor and front disc brakes, you just know this is an awesome way to enjoy a drop-top icon. This car has the kind of history we love to hear about. Were told this came from a long-term owner who bought it new in North Carolina and kept it until he sold it to his nephew in 2019. The nephew gave the car solid investments in everything that needed attention, including an engine rebuild. But he also knew to respect the right originality. So it has a survivor kind of vibe in the right places like the paint. Caspian Blue was only available on 1965 model year Mustangs, which makes it an instant signpost to first-year pony cars. The nephew claims his uncle never painted the car, and he didnt either. Thats right... this shows all the correct signs of being the same application that was put on at the Dearborn factory! You certainly dont get perfection with this kind of maturity, but it wears its age with distinction and retains a good shine. So its a great catalyst to tell this cars unique family history. And the good body panels and nice chrome bumpers are what also prove that this has been properly looked after like a member of the family. There have been additions to this car along the way, but they all are tasteful pieces that make this a bit more fun. For example, we like the way the white inserts in the styled steel wheels go with the newer white roof. The VIN does tell us this is a K-Code convertible. A factory HiPo drop-top is a seriously desirable pony car. So while that does get us excited, there is not a positive verification on this example. We have photos online of two fender VIN locations and will happily work with you for whatever level of conclusion you would like to make about this Mustang. Theres even more period-correct distinction when you open the door. It starts with the factory-correct blue crinkle vinyl seats. They coordinate nicely with the side panels, newer carpeting, newer dash pad, and even the exterior paint to give this convertible the full appeal of a deep blue ocean. You get all the great driver features like bucket seats, a three-spoke sports steering wheel, and a power convertible top. But just like the exterior, there are also nice subtle additions inside that were all about being subtle while improving the drivers experience. After all, the retro-style AM/FM radio means better driving music. And the addition of the center console, sporty GT-style gauges, and a rare Rally-Pac clock/tach make for a more engaging pony car. Under the hood is a sharp-looking powerhouse. Clean black paint, polished valve covers, and a bright air grabber with callout all make this look nice. The info we have on the 289 cubic-inch V8 suggests this is not the original motor for the car and is instead a 1965 block, however, we have posted pictures of the castings we were able to find, plus were told this motor was rebuilt within the last few years. It included many new fundamentals and also upgraded the power with hydraulic lifters, an upgraded coil/ignition, and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. So youre going to feel a HiPo level of performance from this powerhouse. It warms up to be a strong runner, and the four-speed manual transmission gives you full control over it all. As you look underneath, youll also spot nice investments in places like the H-pipe dual exhaust, rear traction bars, and rebuilt front disc brakes. So its a true classic youll truly love to drive. Theres a magical feeling of top-down driving where you row the gears to get a high-octane tune out of the V8. So if you want a classic pony car with plenty of power and plenty of history, you know this distinct first-year Mustang needs to be yours. Call today!!!
