1965 Ford Mustang Convertible. Privately owned. The Mustang has undergone a frame on restoration to include a fresh Wimbledon White paint job approximately 4 years along with an Oyster White Pony interior. The Mustang is mechanically sound with a variety of engine, electronic and suspension upgrades. A detailed receipt and service folder will be made available to buyer. It is equipped with a 289 V8 and automatic transmission. Some of the mechanical upgrades include but not limited to a new 2 barrel carburetor, radiator, exhaust manifolds, water pump, brake booster, gaskets (valve covers, timing chain, oil pan), belts, solenoid, driveshaft, timing chain cover, gas tank, spark plugs and spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and many other upgrades. The brakes have been upgraded to front disc brakes and rear drum brakes have been serviced with new pads and hardware. Brakes exceptional due to the added power brake booster.
The undercarriage has been upgraded with several components to include upper and lower control arms and various bushings. New front and rear shocks have been installed. The transmission was recently serviced and new seals were added. New U-joints were also added to the driveshaft. The differential was serviced and the fluid replaced. The undercarriage also remains solid with no signs of rust or wear; very solid floor. All weather strips and moldings remain fresh along with all chrome accent pieces both inside and outside. The interior is finished in Oyster White Pony. The black carpet is in great condition and new seat belts and bolts were installed. Classic style rubber mats were added. All door panels remain solid with the correct door handles and trimmings. Although it has the original factory AM radio it does not work. All electronics work to include the front and rear lights, fog lights, turn signals, reverse lights, interior under dash lights, wipers, horn and all dash lights operate properly. The power steering system was recently updated to include a new power steering valve and system flush. New styled 14" x 6" wheels were added along with the correct center cap and new Uniroyal tires were installed. The trunk includes a correct style spare tire along with the correct trunk mat and storage bag. Regular maintenance is performed in regards to oil and filter changes, radiator flush, and all other required maintenance requirements.
The top is white vinyl and shows minor exterior blemishes but overall remains in solid condition. Some of the interior material on the convertible top will need to be replaced along with one of the interior frame bars which recently unglued (see images below). None of the above has any impact on the top nor it’s operation. The top is manual and easy to remove and close. The convertible frame remains solid and operational. The good thing about a manual top is the fact that there are less components that can break to include the pump and hydraulic pistons. A black boot cover is included. The rear window remains clear with excellent visibility.
The paint is very shiny with a clear and smooth finish. The Mustang is garage kept and regularly waxed and maintained. The Mustang is a show winner and recipient of some awards during my ownership. Very solid ride with no noises or rattles. The engine bay displays well and the valve covers and air cleaner are painted the correct gold and also has the correct hoses and hose clamps. A new wiper motor was installed. Efforts have been made to attain concourse accuracy. It includes a new 2 barrel carburetor that performs extremely well and allows for easy cold start ups. Idles well and does not have any exhaust smoke. It has been fueled with non-ethanol fuel and performs extremely well. Operates cool with no overheating. The glass throughout the Mustang remains clean and all window mechanisms operate properly. There is a small blemish on the front right fender near the antenna that was there when I purchased the Mustang (see images below). Hardly noticeable but I would like to disclose that minor flaw and illustrate it on the photos.
