Vehicle Description
This 1966 Ford Mustang GT fastback is presented as an A-code pony car that underwent restoration under prior ownership and receives torque from a 289cid high-performance V8 mated to a Toploader four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes power steering, power disc brakes, a center console, a RetroSound audio system, and dual exhaust. Finished in Tahoe Turquoise over a black vinyl interior, this first-generation Mustang is now offered with a spare set of factory wheels and tires and a clear title in the seller’s name.
The Tahoe Turquoise SportsRoof-style exterior was treated to restoration under prior ownership and features white rocker panel decals, fog lamps, side mirrors, louvered sail panels, and a dual exhaust system.
American Racing five-spoke 15-inch wheels with polished lips are wrapped in 225/60 General Altimax RT43 tires.
The interior is trimmed with black vinyl bucket seats up front, a two-seat bench in the rear, and matching materials for the door panels, dash, center console, lap belts, and carpeting. Features include electric power steering, a RetroSound AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo system, a Mr. Gasket shifter, wooden dash and steering wheel accents, Classic Air climate control, and a trunk-mounted spare tire.
A cluster from Classic Industries replaces the factory gauge setup, and readouts include a 160-mph speedometer, an 8,000-rpm tachometer, and displays for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. A five-digit mechanical odometer tracks accrued mileage, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.
The reportedly A-code 289cid high-performance V8 was upgraded with .040-oversized pistons during a head rebuild. Equipment includes an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, a Duraspark ignition system, an electric fan, an aluminum radiator, and a new Interstate battery. Recent maintenance included replacement of the clutch, pressure plate, drive shaft spline, and universal joints in 2022. Power is fed to the rear wheels via a console-shifted Toploader four-speed manual transmission and a 3.55-ratio rear end.
Stopping assistance comes from a Leeds power brakes kit featuring discs up front, drums in the rear, and dual master cylinders. The lowered stance comes from Shelby equipment up front and a five-leaf spring setup in the rear.
The sale includes a set of factory 14-inch styled steel wheels with 215-width BFGoodrich tires.
