Vehicle Description

1967 Ford Fairlane 500 all numbers matching car

Big block 390 V8 FE with toploader 4 speed

The original owner wanted a bench seat with a 4 speed manual.  The bench seat cars came with automatic transmissions, but he insisted, so the dealer called up the Ford plant and placed a special order for a bench seat and 4 speed per customer's request.

I purchased this Fairlane 500 from the original owner in 1997.  In the years later the car went through a complete and thorough restoration.  The restoration started with a 100% original car.  All of the sheet metal was rust free and original.  The engine had never been out of the car. The goal was to restore to original condition but make some improvements to performance and drivability.

The engine was rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted at Junior Johnson's race shop by Junior Johnson's former engine builder.  (J.V. Reins-pictured)  A family friend, J.V. was the engine builder during the 1980's at JJ's race shop in North Wilkesboro NC.  He built engines for drivers such as Neil Bonnett and Darrell Waltrip.  The buyer will get documentation from the build.  The crank was lightened and balanced.  The heads were ported and polished with 428 size valves.  The cam was custom ground and all valvetrain components are top quality.  To finish it off, this engine was fitted with the ultra rare and valuable high flowing 427 cast iron exhaust manifolds!

A couple of friends/Ford collectors have owned the car but I'm the second and current owner.  In recent years this Fairlane has had some upgrades including front disc brakes, new wheels and tires, new springs and shocks front and rear, the original 3.00 open differential changed to a 3.25 positive traction, (old gears included)  new Demon 4 barrel and Edelbrock intake, new car cover (included), all new front end ball joints/bushings etc., GT size front sway bar, original top loader 4 speed overhaul, great sounding 3 chamber Flowmaster dual exhaust, Marti report.

This is a super rare Fairlane 500 with a great history.  It's ready for the next collector to enjoy it as much as I have.  I have posted some videos down below.  There are a few small blemishes in the paint I point out in the second video.  Nice driving car and overall condition is very good.  The spare tire in the trunk is original!  It has never been used!
