Vehicle Description

This 1969 Mercury Cyclone CJ is the only example said to have been produced with the selected options and is powered by a 428ci Cobra Jet V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok differential.

The car is finished in Competition Orange over black vinyl and was optioned with ram-air induction, hood pins, tinted glass, a tachometer, body-colored mirrors, wheel covers, Philco AM radio, manual steering and brakes. The Cyclone CJ featured a blacked-out front grille, dual exhausts, 3:50:1 axle ratio, an engine dress-up kit, hood stripes, and a competition handling package.

The car is finished in Competition Orange and features Cyclone CJ graphics, a blacked-out front grille, a ram-air hood with stripes, chrome bumpers, and dual angled exhaust tips. The selling dealer states that the front fenders were refinished under previous ownership and paint wear and dents are visible.

The 14? black steel wheels wear chrome center caps and are mounted with Radial GT Performance raised white letter tires. The Cyclone CJ came standard with the Competition Handling Package, which consisted of heavy-duty shocks, stiffer springs, and a larger anti-roll bar. Braking is provided by four-wheel drums.

The cabin features black vinyl bench seats joined by a matching dash, door panels, carpet, and floor mats. Features include a Hurst shifter with cueball knob, floor vents, lap belts, and a Philco push-button AM radio.

The two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a faux wood instrument panel housing a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 83k miles, approximately 400 of which have been added during current ownership.

The Cobra Jet 428ci V8 was factory rated at 335 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. The selling dealer notes that a replacement engine was installed under a recall in 1971.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and Traction-Lok differential with a 3.50:1 axle ratio.
