Vehicle Description
1970 Chevelle,
If you’re looking for a real SS, this is it.
A real SS 396 (matching #s) and born with a 4 speed and cowl induction. Canada built and they save their records. I have a notarized letter verifying the authenticity of this beautiful factory Autumn gold car. Car comes with the original Protect-O-Plate which verifies it originality. It was a frame off restoration 12100 miles ago. The #s matching motor was completely rebuilt at 11700 miles and due to a less than acceptable paint job, it was repainted this past 1-13-23. Painted in its original factory Autumn Gold color with a very slick and glossy finish. The strips were painted correctly and are smooth to the touch. The body is very straight and smooth. It has a factory cowl induction with working flapper door and hood pins. The front and rear bumpers, emblems, grill, headlight bezels, lenses have all been replaced. It has 4 of the correct T-3 headlights. The stainless moldings around the windows, wheel wells and rain gutters are new. The emblems, door handles, windshield and mirror are new. The weather strips and window seals are new as well as the sill plates. The SS wheels look great.
The interior looks great. It has factory gages and tachometer. The dash area is in extremely good shape. The Bucket seats and back seat were re-cushioned and upholstered. The factory center console is in real nice shape with a new Hurst shifter. The carpet and sill plates were replaced, The door panels and head liner are in great shape and interior light will work.
The trunk floors are rock solid and the weather stripping is new.
The body was off the frame for restoration. New body bushings, the front end was completely apart and rebuilt. It’s clean uncut metal that’s been prepped and painted semi-gloss black. The bushings, steering component and shocks have been replaced. This SS came with the F-41 suspension which means it came with front and rear sway bars and boxed control arms. The fuel system including sending unit and tank is new. Custom dual exhaust with an X pipe and flow masters mufflers sounds so good. The disc brakes on front looks new. It has new brake lines and stainless braided hoses, new brake lines, the e-brake assembly is hooked up.
Looking up at the motor its fresh Chevy orange, the correct starter looks fresh. The casting codes and dates check out. The codes on the engine match the protect-O-Plate. The motor was upgraded to 375 hp with a little hotter cam, Edelbrock aluminum with a dual feed FST carburetor, a set of headers and HEI ignition. On top it has the cowl induction air cleaner assembly. It has power steering and power brakes. New cadmium plated booster. It has a GM radiator and hoses, new shroud and clutch fan. I added a vintage ac for comfort but saved all of the heater box and so on to give with the car.
