Vehicle Description

The cars engine bay is very tidy and the chrome, wraparound bumpers fit tightly to the body. This big cat rolls on Dunlop Signature radials, size 205/70R15 at every paw. Each one is mounted on original knock-off wire wheels. The tires are in very good order while the wheels are in satisfactory order. Under the big, forward-hinged bonnet is a 355 CID Chevrolet V-8 engine in place of Jaguars 5.3L V-12. Backing this V-8 is a GM four-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include four wheel disc brakes. Car is equipped with A/C but has no compressor. Inside, the black Connolly Leather seats are in overall satisfactory condition and the drivers side has a large blemish. The matching carpet, headliner and dashboard are in similar order. Tach, fuel, oil, and temp gauges are inop. A big, three-spoke steering wheel faces the driver along with the inner door liners. A console-mounted shifter completes the interior. The new longer wheelbase offered significantly more room in all directions. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tires, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V-12. Cars for the US market were fitted with large projecting rubber bumper over-riders to meet local 5 mph impact regulations, but those on European models were considerably smaller. US models also have side indicator repeats on the front wings. The V-12 Open Two Seater and V-12 2+2 were factory fitted with Dunlop E70VR - 15-inch tires on 15 6K wire or solid wheels.
