1975 Buick LeSabre Convertible 455ci "Survivor" -- the last year of the convertible! Only about 5300 were made (even less with the 455 cu.in. engine). This beautiful Indigo metallic blue Buick LeSabre Convertible
They drove this car until 1984 when for some reason they stopped driving it and stored it in a metal building. Twenty-eight years later, in 2012, it was discovered in that same metal building where it had been sitting untouched (see photo) and was purchased by its third family with just 31,423 documented miles on it -- they kept all the service receipts and paperwork.
It was like opening a time capsule with even the original Firestone 721 Radial spare in the trunk -- unused! Even the original window sales sticker was preserved and is included in the sale.
The bright white interior is original and in good condition, very supple and not brittle. The driver's side seat back does have two small inconspicuous tears that are each about a little over one inch long. This car has the rare classy fiberglass "Parade Boot" option . The paint is also original with some minor touch-up work.
The following work was done by the previous owner:
All Fluids were flushed and replaced
All Hoses and Belts replaced
New Water Pump
New Brake Master Cylinder and Booster
New Delco Spark Plugs, Wires, Cap and Rotor
Air Conditioning converted to R134A
New Carpets and Underlayment
New Convertible Top and Glass Rear Window
The undercarriage has been undercoated. This car has Cooper Trendsetter 235.75R tires. The carpets and underlayment are new. The factory AM/FM 8 Track Stereo works but the right front and left front speakers are inoperative. The ashtray cover is broken and needs to be re-attached to the ashtray. It has a new convertible top and glass rear window. The convertible top goes up and down nicely and looks amazing with the Parade boot on it.
As for the Buick ‘purists’ in the crowd, the engine is the correct color from doing research and examination of the engine parts. It is not a Pontiac color and is not supposed to be Buick red. The color is a 2-year color called Strato Blue Metallic which Buick used to identify their engines. It is available only from OEM Industries and the remaining unused can will be included. The air cleaner sticker is also correct and there are no other stickers to be installed on it. The 455ci engine is very powerful. It idles smoothly and accelerates without any hesitation. The paint has a gloss to it and has a good coat of wax on it. The 44-year-old body has some chips, dings, and scratches and the chrome has some sun bleaching. It is not perfect! The frame, floors, and trunk are solid and have no rust issues. However, there are patches of rust at the bottom of the driver’s side door that cannot be seen unless the door is open, and you are underneath the door. The trim is in good shape. The factory wheels have a little rust on them but do polish nicely. Nothing is missing from the car. It is truly a survivor! You can drive it home safely and with confidence.
