Vehicle Description

This vintage 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ43 features a stage 1 frame-off restoration and is absolutely beautiful. it is left-hand drive and gasoline-powered by a 4.2-liter 2F inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. It is finished in yellow with a removable hardtop and a white roof over gray vinyl upholstery and features 16″ steel wheels, locking front hubs, two folding rear benches, power steering, air conditioning, a heater, a Hi-Lift jack, a Monroe steering stabilizer and dampers, and an aftermarket stereo and speakers.

The two-door FJ43 is the medium-wheelbase version of the FJ40 and was offered with a forward-facing rear bench seat. This example was refinished in yellow in 2022 and features a removable white hardtop and a white roof along with a Hi-Lift jack, side mirrors, rear ambulance-style doors, a steel front bumper, fender-mounted turn signals, and a rear-mounted spare tire.

Gray-finished 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 265/75 Unigrip Road Force M/T tires. A Monroe steering stabilizer and dampers were installed in 2022, and the truck is equipped with locking front hubs and power steering. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The interior features front seats and two rear benches trimmed in replacement gray vinyl upholstery. Equipment includes air conditioning, a heater, and an aftermarket stereo and speakers.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-km/h speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 34 kilometers (~22 miles), and total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six was factory rated at 135 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque.

Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case.

The FJ43 is a stretched version of the FJ40 and was not made available to the U.S. market. Features front disc brakes, drums in the rear, a front 60/40 split bench seat and extra long jump seats in the back. Powered by Toyota’s 2F engine, the exact same set up that was in an 1976 FJ40 but without the smog equipment.
