Vehicle Description

1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collectors Edition

The 1982 Collector Edition was the first Corvette with a hatchback
rear window, foreshadowing the C4 Corvette. A special color scheme
was used inside and out and Collector Edition badges were featured.
The special, exclusive aluminum wheels were designed to look like
the optional bolt-on wheels of the 1967 model. The Collector
Edition had an 0" in the sixth digit of the VIN rather than the
"8" found on standard Corvettes. This was the first Corvette to
sell for more than $20,000, with a base price of $22,537.59. The
Collector Edition had limited availability and 6,759 were produced
out of a 1982 total Corvette production of 25,407.

Offered for consignment, this Collector Edition automobile presents
in good condition. Some paint flaws and minimal scratching show
overall, however still running strong this example of only 6,759
produced. An overall very clean and nicely presenting car with an
interesting "space age" interior. This car has the removable roof
panels which are bronze tinted glass and a 3 owner history that
combines with the 27,615 verified actual miles, Crossfire Injection
350ci V8, a clean CarFax, and the original build sheet all to form
one seriously collectible Collectors Edition.

Exterior
Silver beige paint was the color of every 1982 Collector Edition
Corvette produced, and this is no exception. Dark brown curvaceous
pinstriping wraps around the passenger compartment and highlights
the fenders. A gray to black fade is seen on the beltline door
panel and makes its way to black ending in the front quarter
panel/air vent. The same gray to black fade appears on the hood,
which presents with some cracking of the decal. The all fiberglass
body is in good condition, bathed in the original application of
paint but sporting some battle scars in the form of scuffs and
scrapes, particularly on the pointed neoprene nose. Bronze tinted
glass "T" tops, which are removable, are scratch free and clear. A
hatchback style operable window covers the rear deck. Unique
wheels, turbine style, patterned after the 1967 models bolt on
alloys, are also unique to this commemorative edition. Crossfire
injection badging is seen as well on the exterior as are the iconic
quad of round tail/signal lights.

Interior
Metallic Silver/Brown "spacesuit style material" seating has
horizontal multi shade silver brown hue panels on the bucket
seating. The seats are showing a of wrinkling to the material, but
no tears or fading is noted. This pattern is mimicked on the door
panels, with the lower door panels wrapped in smoked gray carpet.
This same carpet in good condition is seen throughout the cabin and
even in the stowage hatch area remains very clean. Storage bags are
seen in the rear to keep the T-tops scratch and mar free when
removed. We note some soiling on the plastic backs of the front
seat, particularly on the drivers top. An early 1980s style
rectangular dash has analog instrumentation. Another cluster of
analog gauges is seen in the center console, which includes the
floor shifter and power window toggles between the bucket seats. A
padded 3-spoke stock steering wheel fronts the dash and sports the
crossed flags Corvette logo.

Drivetrain
A 350ci V8 engine is fueled by the new Cross-Fire Injection which
includes 2 throttle bodies combined with Chevrolets computer
control system. A 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with higher
ratio first and second gear, as well as a fourth gear overdrive,
increased the acceleration, and improved fuel economy. The entire
engine compartment presents in good condition. Rounding out the
drivetrain is the 2.87 geared Positraction rear axle.

Undercarriage
Underside of the car reveals that surface rust is present, but it
is structurally sound. Power disc brakes are on all four wheels and
providing the signature Corvette ride is an independent coil spring
front suspension that works with a fully independent frame anchored
differential and transverse leaf spring arrangement. A single
exhaust system with dual stock replacement mufflers handles the
spent fossil removal with ease.
