1982 Toyota FJ40, has the original 2F inline 6 cylinder gasoline engine, runs strong and it is clean as a whistle. The 4 speed manual transmission is also original to the truck making it an all matching numbers classic truck. The FJ is equipped with a removable hardtop, power steering and power brakes, stereo, air-conditioning with dash vents and it is not the usual bulky vintage air that everyone uses.  Many note Toyota’s continual improvement to the Land Cruiser and agree that the final few model years 81, 82 and 83 represent the best of the breed and the most modern. The fuel tank was relocated from under the passenger seat to a safer location underneath the vehicle that allowed fuel capacity to be increased from 16 to 21.6 gallons. The odometer was upgraded from five digits to six-digits in late 1981. Toyota also switched to 3:70 gears, which gave the FJ40 better highway speed than the earlier 4:11 gear ratio models. We also saw the change to the split transfer case and updated four-speed transmission, the emergency brake was relocated to the rear brakes and the e-brake stalk to the floor of the FJ. All those small changes contribute to making an even better truck and considerably smoother and quieter than its predecessor.
