Vehicle Description

 Truck was originally repainted apple red, and was later painted “1966 Oldsmobile 442 red”. Per owner the truck has never had any body rust repairs. Owner put most miles on in the first few years. Later installed another naturally aspirated engine to compete in only one pulling contest. Engine was pulled for another project, and truck had remained as is. Truck was not used to off road.
DETAILS OF CAR:
* List of original options in glove box- how it was built
* Original transmission, transfer case, and axles
* Original tailpipes and bell housing go with
* 4:56 positraction rear end
* Manual lock in-out hubs
* No engine
* ET aluminum slot wheels
* Tow hooks
* 4” lift using Springs (no blocks)
Paint-
* The owner 1st had the truck repainted in Apple Red. And later changed to the color he preferred, “1966 Oldsmobile 442 Red”. This possibly had to do with the 1966 Oldsmobile 442 the owner once owned.
* The paint all has a very smooth professional looking finish. I would say to be very similar to the quality of the factory painting at that time, and even maybe a little better.
* Owner did have a different hood on the truck at one point. So the hood was not painted that442 Red color, and I do not believe they changed the color of the engine compartment. It appears everything else was changed, including the body, dash, and inside the cab.
* The paint seems to match all the way around, with of course the except of the hood.
* We are not seeing any areas of improper orange peel, or defects that are obvious.
* The truck is pretty free of nicks with the exception of a couple on the hood edges, right front fender, and where it meets back near the cowl or wiper vent. (See Pics)
* The truck is scratch free with the only noticeable exception is a couple of scrapes down the center of the hood, and on the back edge on the hood that is the original color. Also a few scrapes where the driver gets in and out, and on the rocker. (See Pics)
* There are some light dimples in hood, and back of roof from original factory to dealer transport. ( see pics)
Body-
* The body is very nice and straight. (See pictures at an angle)
* The fits of the doors and tailgate look appropriate. We are unable with the hood of course , because it is not fastened down at this point. (See Pics)
* There is some light denting in the bed, and the tailgate from light usage at some time. (See Pics)
* The sides of the bed look free of dents.
Exterior-
* The truck has 396 and Silverado badging because he liked it like that way, but it is actually a one ton 30 series and is not a Silverado.
Interior-
* It would be our guess that the sun visors, the dash, steering column, and door panels are probably pretty much the original pieces that it was build with.
* The rest of the interior is made up of after market custom seating. There is no carpet or vinyl on the floor at this time, and it has been painted to match the exterior of the car. Look closely at the pictures to see the trucks condition.
* There is a Hurst grip on the transmission shifter.
* The seats are manual and have front to back adjustments, but are not bolted in place at this time.
* The clutch has an extra block on it to bring it back a little further, which made it easier for the owner to operate(as he is not real tall).
* The two seats, and the console are all mounted on one frame.
Magnetic Paint Gauge-
* We did a few random samples of the paint and material thickness on all body panels, and all tested to be steel. The hood that had never been repainted was in the 4-5 mils range, and the rest of the body that has been repainted was in the 8-10 mils range. It is pretty consistent and even all the way around. Again a sign of a professional repaint that does not have to much material, and a body that has little to no repair.
Bright work and Black Materials-
* You can tell the black plastic, and rubber around the windows are in nice condition. They do not have much weather deterioration on them.
* It appears that the bright work is all secured properly, and in place as it should be.
* What appears to be stainless on the mirrors is very shiny and reflective.
* There is some light pitting, and tarnish on the door handles, and the front and rear bumper. However some chrome polish, and elbow grease would bring those up a notch, and look a lot better than the close up pictures I have taken.
* The front bumper does have some scuffing on either side of the license plate holder.
* There are a few light cracks in the right rear taillight bezel.
Glass-
* The vent windows, and the door glass is all Safety Flo by LOF.
* The front windshield is a Crinamex which we are guessing to be possible replacement at some time. The rear sliding window looks to be a different company named CRL.
* In looking at the glass it all appears in really nice condition. It all looks nice and clear, and we do not see discoloring, delamination, bulls-eyes, cracks, or wiper marks. If there are any scratches we do not see them.
* The front glass does have a windshield antenna.
Bed-
* Does not have spare tire or wheel.
Tires and Wheels-
* The tires still show the markings of the mold, and so they appear to be tires that have been driven very little. We do not notice any cracking on them, and damage to the outside of the tires.
* The aluminum rims are fairly oxidized, and could certainly benefit from a
polishing.
* It does have manual lock, and unlock front hubs.
Left Front- 36 14.5 16.5
Left Rear- 36 14.5 16.5
Right Rear- 36 14.5 16.5
Right Front- 36 14.5 16.5
Engine and Transmission-
* The truck does not come with, nor do we have access to the original engine.
* Under the hood you can closely inspect, and see what components are retained from the original build and still exist.
