2002 996 C2 Carrera 6-Speed in a hard to find Speed Yellow coupe...
Clean Title, accident free Carfax. Three owner. Bone stock. Excellent condition. Strong running, well maintained 75,000 mile PCA enthusiast owned example still proudly sporting its original IMS bearing. Clutch and flywheel serviced at 60,000 miles; IMS inspected and deemed perfect. Oil inspected at each change for metal, never an issue. No rust or corrosion issues on this southern car. Bridgestone Potenza tires are about 3 years old with maybe 6000 miles. This has been used personally and has proven to be highly reliable and ver y rewarding to own and drive.
996's have been panned and maligned for too long, mostly by air cooled purists and posers. The truth is the 996 is among the MOST important 911 variants; it is the first water cooled flat six which was a revelation in power delivery. It perfected the shortcomings of the power steering systems of the 964 and 993 models; the 996 has the BEST steering of any Porsche before it or since (as later models switched to the dead feel of electronic assist). The styling is purely organic, with nary a sharp edge on it, making those headlight assemblies completely appropriate to the theme. The simple unadorned interiors are a welcome relief from the bling and buttons of subsequent models.
Most importantly, the 996 retains the analog driving experience lost to later models and that made the earlier cars the legend they have become.
These cars have seen the bottom of the depreciation curve and will see steady appreciation in value, especially the well kept and lower mile cars like this one. Unusual body corlors are a hallmark of classic Porsches, always adding value. Not enough of the 996/997 series were adorned as such. Buy this car, drive it and take car of it and if you have to sell it you likely won't lose money on it. This car is priced above market because it is way above average in every respect.
