This 2007 Ford Mustang Saleen S281 is finished in black over black leather and powered by a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes Saleen bodywork, upgraded suspension components, 20” chrome wheels, a rear wing, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and a Shaker 500 stereo system.
The S281 features unique bumper covers, integrated fog lights, an aluminum hood with heat extractors, side skirts, a fixed rear spoiler, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and Saleen S281 badging. This example is finished in black, and a decal on the left front bumper identifies it as #65 built for the model year.
Chrome 20” seven-spoke wheels wear Dunlop SportMaxx tires sized 275/35 all around. The suspension features Saleen-specific Racecraft shocks and springs as well as front and rear sway bars. Braking is provided by power-assisted four-wheel discs with Saleen-branded calipers.
The cabin features sport seats upholstered in Dark Charcoal leather with embroidered Saleen logos and hollow headrests. Additional Saleen-branded equipment includes a short shifter, door sill plates, floor mats, aluminum pedal covers, and a steering wheel badge. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, and a Shaker 500 audio system.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The 4.6-liter V8 was modified by Saleen with an intercooled Series VI twin-screw supercharger, larger fuel injectors, and a revised ECU tune for a claimed output of 465 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque when new.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TR-3650 five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with a 3.55:1 final gear ratio.
